Last year I really enjoyed the Self-Defence Classes that Ryo taught but I wanted to take the
training further and so from March 2003 I started to attend the martial arts
class in Holloway. It has provided me with challenge, skill and endless
entertainment.
Ryo's classes are very practical, and we train with all sorts of weapons. We
always do different things every week and come back to it from time to time,
because they are all linked together. The flexibility of learning helps us to
develop our very own taijutsu and learn the essence
of each movement rather than the movements itself. This helps in practical
situations when one cannot stop to think of the movements one has learnt, but
uses his instinct.
My interest in Martial Arts goes back to when I took up Taichi
8 years ago. This is one of the main schools of Internal Martial Arts so I
began to look for other schools with similar qualities. Bujinkan
builds up on my foundation and provides me with a practical type of training.
For me, Martial Arts training helps character
building which is one of my main reasons for taking up Bujinkan,
as well as the other benefits - fitness, protection and enjoyment!
