What I like about Ryo’s classes is the fact that even though we work from a broad base of techniques Ryo still manages to pay a lot of attention to fine detail, both for the class as a whole, & for the specific individual. Not only do we get to look closely at basic techniques & the structural key to their successful delivery, but we also get to try more complicated & combined applications. Both with & without weapons & as an unarmed response to a weapons based attack. Conditioning is also a key feature of Ryo’s teaching, conditioning, & isolating the transferable aspects of techniques. Things such as key body movements, sensitivity & efficient & harmonious flow. All of which make it an interesting & effective training class, but at the same time one that can be quite hard work & not suited to those who just want an easy ride. |
